## Resource

Pete Alonso’s return to Citi Field feels like a homecoming with a twist—he’s chasing his 300th homer, but the Mets’ future is anything but certain. Fans adore him, yet ownership seemed ready to move on. This season’s missteps—Polanco’s underwhelming debut, the Simeon trade gone sideways—have left the Mets scrambling to rebuild. While their offense, anchored by Binge, Ewing, Lindor, and Soto, remains potent, the pitching staff is a glaring weakness. If they want to challenge in the NL East next year, they’ll need bold moves on the mound—and Alonso’s milestone might just be the spark that forces them to act.
