## Resource

An American Airlines flight to Newark spiraled into chaos when a passenger erupted in violence, assaulting his neighbor, hurling racial slurs, and even biting someone who tried to help. Flight attendants resorted to zip ties and duct tape to restrain him as he bled from self-inflicted wounds. The pilot diverted the plane to Baltimore, where police and the FBI took over. While alcohol may have played a role — though he was only served one drink — experts say such extreme measures are standard protocol for severe onboard threats. American Airlines confirmed they won’t tolerate violence and praised crew and passengers for keeping everyone safe.
