## Resource

Legionnaires’ disease outbreak hits the South Bronx, claiming one life and sickening eight others — with ten cooling towers, including one at Yankee Stadium, testing positive for Legionella DNA. Officials stress it’s not yet confirmed if the bacteria is active, and reassure the public that indoor spaces and tap water remain safe. Nine total cases have been diagnosed, all linked to exposure via mist from cooling towers — a known risk factor. All affected towers must be cleaned by Sept. 14; two were out of compliance. If you’ve been in ZIP codes 10451 or 10456 since late August and feel flu-like symptoms, seek medical care immediately.
