## Resource

A Queens family’s 30-year home was demolished after catastrophic flooding left its foundation compromised, forcing an unsafe evacuation and leaving them without their irreplaceable belongings. Though they’d hired contractors, no viable stabilization plan was submitted in time, prompting city officials to deem demolition the safest option. The family, now staying with relatives and awaiting hotel accommodations, is rallying for permanent housing—not just temporary shelter—as neighbors protest and the city explores a flood-prone buyout program.
