## Resource

Belmont Park is roaring back to life after a $450 million makeover, reopening with a brand-new mile-and-a-half track, sleek grandstand, and top-tier amenities—all paying homage to racing’s rich legacy. The first races kicked off Friday at 1:30 PM, including the star-studded Grade 1 Jockey Club Gold Cup worth $1 million. Designed to thrill both longtime fans and newcomers, this “shiny new toy” aims to revive interest in the sport while setting the stage for next year’s Breeders’ Cup and the return of the iconic Belmont Stakes. Despite concerns over declining attendance, officials are banking on the renovation as a major economic shot in the arm—opening weekend capped at 6,000 fans, with full capacity slated for spring 2027.
