## Resource

Louisiana is racing against time to secure a federal extension and build a nuclear fuel recycling and storage hub, aiming to handle everything from uranium enrichment to radioactive waste disposal — a bold move that could reshape the nation’s nuclear future. With just 15 days until the deadline, officials are quietly canvassing communities for support, touting the state’s strategic location, infrastructure, and workforce. Selected by the DOE in July alongside six other states, Louisiana now faces a major hurdle: current federal law doesn’t permit multiple permanent disposal sites, meaning Congress must act to make this vision a reality.
