## Resource

New Orleans City Council just gave the green light to keep the wildly popular Opportunity Pass alive—free rides for teens and young adults up to age 24 on buses, ferries, and streetcars. With over 11,000 sign-ups since launching last year, the program’s success is undeniable, and council members unanimously voted to help find funding to make it permanent. Facing a looming federal funding gap, nonprofit Ride New Orleans needs about $850,000 annually to keep the passes rolling—and they’re turning to businesses, foundations, and local government for support. This move signals a powerful community commitment: when cities invest in their youth, transportation becomes a launchpad, not a barrier.
