## Resource

A tragic campus tragedy unfolds as 19-year-old Alabama State University freshman Kaylin Smith, a criminal justice major from Louisiana, is fatally shot in an off-campus apartment early Monday morning. The shooting, initially reported as a prowler incident around 4 AM, quickly escalated into a SWAT response after gunshots were heard. Kaylin was found dead at the scene, while a juvenile suspect was discovered with a self-inflicted gunshot wound and hospitalized in critical condition. This marks the second student homicide on campus in recent weeks—following the death of 20-year-old Ava Walters last month, whose boyfriend has been arrested for her murder. Authorities continue to investigate this devastating case as a possible domestic-related incident, leaving the ASU community reeling from another profound loss.
