Today we will be discussing central retinal artery occlusions, or CRAOs, and the recent trials that have come out and even those further on the horizon. The 2026 American Heart Association and American Stroke Association guidelines for the early management of patients with acute ischemic stroke were recently published and in them highlight the uncertainty around the treatment of acute CRAOs with intravenous thrombolysis, even when the patient presents within four and a half hours and is otherwise eligible. These guidelines come after two recent trials, which we will further discuss. The thrombolysis in patients with acute central retinal artery occlusion, or the THEIA trial, was published in the November issue of La… ## Actions - request_transcript: `POST https://stenobird.com/v1/public/podcasts/neurology-minute-15117/episodes/recent-updates-in-central-retinal-artery-occlusions/transcription-requests` — Idempotently request low-priority transcript generation for this episode. - read_markdown: `GET https://stenobird.com/podcast/neurology-minute-15117/recent-updates-in-central-retinal-artery-occlusions.md` — Read the agent-friendly Markdown representation of this episode resource.
