## Resource

Nebraska’s defense made a bold statement in their season opener with 34 players suiting up, allowing just 303 yards over 65 plays while securing the win—but there’s room to grow under new coordinator Rob Aurich. The defensive line rotated 18 deep, holding firm against the run but only managing two sacks. Linebackers Dexter Foster and Vincent Shavers led the charge, with Shavers earning top honors for his play—especially stepping into a crucial communication role. A key transfer sidelined early is expected back soon. The secondary shined, shutting down the opposing QB after an explosive start, and Rex Guthrie snagged his first career interception to set up a late score. Still, costly penalties—including one that extended a drive—and struggles covering scrambles exposed weaknesses. Despite the rough spots, the unit showed promise under pressure, laying a solid foundation for improvement as the season unfolds.
