## Resource

Tennessee State University is eyeing a potential $15.5 million windfall by selling 35 acres near John C. Tune Airport — a move that could fund critical campus projects like new dorms and buildings. The sale, pending approval from the state’s Buildings Commission in September, comes after TSU slashed its deficit by over $13 million thanks to a five-year savings strategy. President Dwayne Tucker says the airport authority has agreed to let TSU use the land rent-free for a year while negotiations proceed. While some trustees question why they’re not seeking other buyers, officials argue speed matters: getting cash now meets urgent needs like housing and infrastructure — even if it means accepting a quicker deal rather than waiting for a potentially higher offer later.
