## Resource

The Tennessee State Capitol and Legislative Plaza are undergoing a historic transformation, set to finish by the end of 2026—just in time for the 2027 legislative session and governor’s inauguration. The Capitol itself is being restored with new windows, doors, and a copper roof, while Legislative Plaza is being converted into a vibrant visitor center complete with a museum, military exhibits, and public amenities. A new bronze statue of David Crockett—and his hunting dogs—is replacing the controversial Edward Carmack monument, all timed to coincide with the beloved Christmas tree lighting ceremony. This ambitious project aims to honor history, welcome visitors, and preserve tradition—all before the state’s next big political moment.
