## Resource

When Marillion faced the daunting task of replacing their legendary frontman Fish in 1988, they didn’t try to replicate him—they embraced change. Choosing Steve Hogarth, a pop-savvy contrast to Fish’s theatricality, they risked everything. Hogarth brought his own quiet charisma and unmistakable voice, proving that Marillion could thrive without Fish. Their debut album Seasons End showed promise, but the real triumph came live: terrified yet determined, Hogarth delivered powerful renditions of Fish’s classics alongside fresh hits like Easter and Berlin. The band rekindled their energy, Rothery smiling and moving freely onstage, as Hogarth proved he wasn’t just filling shoes—he was becoming the new heart of Marillion, a role he’d hold for nearly four decades.
