## Resource

In 1988, Jeff Scott Soto—fresh off leaving Yngwie Malmsteen’s band and needing cash for his newborn—got a wild call: the Misfits wanted a singer for a new project. Unfamiliar with the band, he flew to New Jersey and ended up recording thirteen heavy, Iron Maiden-meets-Motörhead tracks with bassist Jerry Only and his brother Doyle under the sci-fi concept of “Kryst The Conqueror.” Though Soto nailed the vocals and the music was solid, the project fizzled due to creative misalignment and budget issues for their comic book vision. A few songs surfaced as an EP in ’90, but it vanished into obscurity. Years later, Jerry and Doyle reclaimed the Misfits name, repurposing some Kryst riffs into new songs—and the whole epic, godly-sounding experiment? It’s been quietly shelved, likely to stay that way.
