## Resource

The episode details the high-profile Scottish murder trial of Aaron Pearson, a Canadian man accused of the brutal 2024 killing of his girlfriend, Clare Levc, at a remote residence. During the proceedings at the High Court in Edinburgh, prosecutors presented harrowing evidence, including an emergency call where the defendant reportedly confessed to stabbing the victim multiple times in a hot tub. In contrast, Pearson testified in his own defense, claiming that the victim’s fatal injuries were actually self-inflicted during a volatile, alcohol-fueled argument. The narrative outlines several days of testimony involving forensic evidence, medical assessments, and heartbreaking statements from Pearson’s late mother, who initially reported the crime. Legal experts also discuss the unique aspects of the Scottish legal system, such as the "not proven" verdict, which may influence the trial's outcome. Ultimately, the source highlights the dramatic conflict between the defendant's initial admissions of guilt and his subsequent attempt to establish his innocence in court.
