## Resource

The episode recounts the chilling case of Sheila LaBarre, a woman who transformed a quiet New Hampshire horse farm into a site of multiple homicides. After inheriting the estate from a wealthy older man, LaBarre targeted vulnerable males, including the developmentally disabled Kenneth County and Michael Delage, a man she met at a homeless shelter. Investigators discovered human remains in a large burn pile on her property and found evidence of further victims through items discarded in her home's plumbing. During her trial, she unsuccessfully used an insanity defense, claiming she was an "avenging angel" punishing pedophiles. She was ultimately convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison, though authorities suspect her true victim count may be higher. This source highlights how a predatory individual exploited a small-town setting to conceal horrific acts of violence and manipulation.
