## Resource

The episode discusses the documentary My Brother’s Killer, which investigates the 1990 cold case murder of Billy Newton, a young man from Wisconsin who moved to Los Angeles. Directed by Rachel Mason, the film highlights the tragic reality many LGBTQ+ individuals faced during the 1980s and 1990s, an era marked by violence and societal neglect. A central figure in the production is Clark Williams, a fellow Wisconsinite whose personal connection to the community helped uncover vital leads in the investigation. Through an interview with the director and Williams, the source explores how independent filmmaking and local journalism can bring justice to forgotten victims. Ultimately, the documentary serves as both a true crime mystery and a poignant reflection on the shared history of the gay community in the Midwest.
