## Resource

This episode details the investigation and arrest of Nicole Max for the violent murder of her elderly roommate, Michael Sarasulli, in Daytona Beach. After authorities discovered the victim with multiple stab wounds in a home set on fire, police located a barefoot Max carrying a hammer and a bloody knife. In a bizarre attempt to destroy forensic evidence, the suspect famously poured Diet Mountain Dew over her body while in custody. The episode captures police interrogations that reveal her shifting stories, history of mental illness, and claims of being tormented by auditory hallucinations. Ultimately, Max pleaded no contest to charges including second-degree murder and arson, receiving a 35-year prison sentence. The narrative explores the intersection of childhood trauma and severe psychological breakdowns that led to this tragic and senseless crime.
