## Resource

In a recent interview, co-creator Ian Brennan discussed the creative direction behind Netflix's anthology series, Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story, which adopts a darkly comedic tone to explore female criminality. By examining historical figures like Lizzie Borden and Elizabeth Báthory alongside Aileen Wuornos, the production highlights persistent themes of female rage across different eras. Brennan explained that the Victorian setting naturally invited irony, while contemporary punk music helped bridge the gap between past and present social repressions. The conversation also touched upon the rigorous casting choices, including the immediate chemistry between Ella Beatty and Vicky Krieps. Finally, the producer reflected on the difficulty of finding compelling subjects for future seasons and expressed openness toward potentially reviving the musical series Glee.
