## Resource

The episode details the brutal 2023 murder of Angie Diaz, a 21-year-old Nicaraguan immigrant who was decapitated by her husband, Jared James Dykus. The sources describe the horrifying scene discovered by the perpetrator's parents on their Texas property, where they found the victim's body and her head placed in a bathtub. Investigators uncovered a history of domestic strife, including signs of physical abuse and a rushed marriage motivated by the victim's desire for legal residency. During police interrogations, Dykus initially blamed drug-induced psychosis and auditory hallucinations for the killing, though his claims were undermined by surveillance footage showing his calm behavior shortly after the crime. Ultimately, Dykus was found mentally competent and pleaded guilty to the murder, receiving a 40-year prison sentence. This account contrasts the victim's ambitious and hardworking nature with the violent unraveling of her short-lived marriage.
