## Resource

Burning Man’s 40th anniversary ended in tragedy as a third attendee, 51-year-old Armando Ramirez from Truckee, California, died en route to the hospital after a medical emergency. Two other deaths were confirmed earlier in the week, bringing the total to three this year — all under investigation but with no signs of foul play. Since the festival began in 1990, deaths have occurred annually, averaging one per year, as tens of thousands gather in the harsh desert. Toxicology and autopsy results, expected in six to eight weeks, may shed more light on what happened — turning this year’s celebration into a somber reminder of the risks in the heart of the playa.
