## Resource

Alex Newhook, Colorado’s 2022 Cup hero, is locking in his future with Montreal on a four-year, $22.2M extension that keeps him through the 2031 season. Acquired in 2023 for picks and a defenseman, he struggled to find his footing early but exploded in the playoffs last spring, leading the Canadiens in goals en route to the Eastern Conference Final. Though injuries and inconsistent production marred his early years, flashes of elite offensive talent — including a career-high 34 points — prove he’s still got it. Now, as Montreal rebuilds around its young core, Newhook is poised to become a cornerstone of their long-term plan.
