## Resource

Montreal Canadiens pull off a savvy move by signing 35-year-old Chris Kreider on a one-year, $2.15M deal with potential bonuses — he delivered 22 goals and 50 points last season. While some fans recall his past playoff drama, the Habs see him as the gritty, physical boost they’ve been missing — especially since top targets like Knies and Marchenko slipped away. Kreider’s drawn to Montreal’s Eastern Conference Final run and has ties to GM Jeff Gorton and coach Martin St-Louis. This short-term deal gives the Canadiens immediate firepower without blocking younger players’ development, making it a smart, flexible addition for now.
