## Resource

Dustin Tokarski’s retirement marks the end of an era for the Canadiens, but the team is far from done building — they’re quietly assembling a future championship core with young stars locked up at bargain prices. With players like Slafkovsky, Suzuki, and Caufield all signed long-term, plus rising prospects Hage and Reinbacher, Montreal has unmatched flexibility to chase free agents or manage cap space without panic. Meanwhile, San Jose’s smart draft haul — including second-overall pick Ivar Stenberg and star Macklin Celebrini — signals a patient, strategic rebuild that could pay off big. Patience is key, but if these teams stay focused, they’re primed to be playoff contenders — maybe even Cup winners — for years to come.
