## Resource

Teachers in Vermont’s Blue Mountain Union School District are entering the new school year without a contract after a bitter summer standoff. The school board rejected a deal both sides had previously backed, citing budget concerns and fear of exceeding state spending limits — a move that could raise taxes. The union responded by filing a rare complaint with the Labor Relations Board, accusing the board of bad-faith bargaining and retaliation. While teachers still get paid, they’re likely earning less than under the scrapped agreement. Morale is low as educators feel unheard. Now, the board is offering a new proposal — negotiations resume next week, hoping to find a solution that balances finances and teacher satisfaction.
