## Resource

School districts in Greater Rutland are testing a bold new plan to fix their substitute teacher shortage—offering bonus pay for working on high-absence days or hitting monthly targets, hoping to lure both current and new subs into the fold. Meanwhile, mentor coordinators, stuck at $1,500 for eight years, could see a raise to $1,750—but who pays? Debate’s heating up. A new co-curricular pay scale is also in the works, designed to cut costs while offering fairer compensation, and soon local boards will weigh in. And with one member pushing for a flat budget and zero new hires next year, cost-cutting is front and center as the board gears up for its October 6th meeting.
