## Resource

New York’s Energy Affordability Program is expanding to help 2.5 million more households save up to $500 a year by capping energy bills at just 6% of income—starting in 2026, eligibility will include those earning below the state median, with special thresholds for NYC, Westchester, and Nassau. If you’re on SNAP or Medicaid, you’ll need to apply online; others may qualify automatically. The state’s rolling out digital ads, mailers, text alerts, and in-person events to get the word out—check the official portal to see if you qualify and sign up today.
