## Resource

The Minnesota Timberwolves are wrestling with a critical depth issue at backup center, despite solid offseason moves. With Rudy Gobert anchoring the paint, the team’s next man up—second-year player Joan Beringer—is still raw and prone to foul trouble. Coach Chris Finch is exploring creative solutions, including shifting Jaden McDaniels to the five spot. While McDaniels is known for elite perimeter defense, his rim-protecting stats last season were elite too—making him a surprisingly viable small-ball center or emergency big in zone schemes. This versatility could unlock new offensive looks and help cover defensive gaps, especially with Anthony Edwards and Jonathan Kuminga already locking down the perimeter. It’s a smart, situational tweak that could give the Wolves the flexibility they need to compete through an 82-game grind.
