## Resource

The NBA just handed the LA Clippers a brutal five-draft-pick penalty over Kawhi Leonard’s situation — the harshest in decades. Echoing the 2000 Timberwolves’ punishment for contract violations, this move shocks even those who thought Commissioner Silver might show mercy. While LA owner Steve Ballmer is reportedly preparing to fight it in court, history suggests some picks could be restored. Losing that many first-rounders can cripple a franchise’s rebuild — the Timberwolves’ decade-long struggle after their penalty proves it — and the Clippers are hoping to avoid a similar fate.
