## Resource

A Minnesota cow tested positive for rabies, sparking a public health emergency as nine people—including the owner and vet staff—may have been exposed through saliva and are now receiving urgent post-exposure shots. The animal showed bizarre behavior early on, worsened by September third with drooling, stumbling, and fever, before being euthanized. Vets handled it without proper gloves, underscoring the critical need for PPE when dealing with sick animals. Over 40 livestock and pets are under watch, two unvaccinated barn cats were euthanized, and officials scramble to understand how the virus entered the herd. Though skunks are the most common rabies carriers in Minnesota, this case reminds everyone: don’t ignore strange animal behavior—it could be deadly.
