## Resource

Forget just cotton candy and corn dogs—the State Fair’s Fine Arts Competition is a vibrant showcase of Minnesota’s creative soul, featuring over 3,000 original artworks spanning landscapes, politics, tech, and pop culture. With no theme imposed, jurors—rotating yearly to reflect art’s ever-changing nature—spend five days sifting through submissions, rewarding artists who completed their creative journeys. After initial judging, they spend another four hours fine-tuning selections for awards, all while doling out $15,000 in prize money and special sponsor-funded honors—including some pieces bought outright for permanent display. Celebrating its 115th year, this competition invites everyone to witness what’s truly on the minds and hearts of Minnesota’s living artists.
