## Resource

St. Paul’s mayor Kaohly Her pulled back from tough budget cuts after smart financial tweaks—shifting elections and boosting utility fees—saved the day, keeping the Dayton’s Bluff Library open and restoring rec center hours. But she’s warning this is a temporary fix, urging long-term facility reviews. Council members like Cheniqua Johnson were ready to fight, even proposing a tax hike to save the library—a symbol of East Side community resilience. The city council votes on the final tax levy next Wednesday, aiming to balance a $26 million deficit without raising taxes further.
