## Resource

United CEO Scott Kirby secretly approached both Delta and American Airlines about a mega-merger that would have controlled 35% of the US domestic market — and both CEOs said no. Today's episode also breaks down why Marriott Bonvoy free night certificates are costing travelers hundreds in surprise resort fees, and what you need to know about Lufthansa Allegris' complicated seat fee system before booking an award. There's a Chase Sapphire Preferred welcome bonus worth over $2,000 that expires July 30th, so eligible cardholders need to act fast. Rounding out the show: fee-free Visa gift cards at Staples, active Paze cashback opportunities, and the final resolution of the Alaska Airlines family compensation saga.
