## Resource

A federal judge has blocked President Trump’s latest executive order targeting birthright citizenship, citing a prior Supreme Court ruling that upholds the Fourteenth Amendment. The move halts federal agencies from interfering with citizenship for children born in the U.S., regardless of parents’ status — a stance previously affirmed by the courts. This injunction follows legal action by advocates for children who would have been denied citizenship under the new policy, which sought to curb “birth tourism.” The State Department had begun drafting rules requiring proof of parental citizenship for passports, but the judge’s decision stops those efforts. It’s another major legal setback for the administration’s attempt to redefine automatic citizenship for U.S.-born children.
