## Resource

A former Arizona child safety official alleges a bribery plot involving a top state official and a private residential care company, sparking political firestorm ahead of election season. Shalom Jacobs claims that in 2022, the company’s head offered to lobby Governor Katie Hobbs in exchange for a special pay raise — a deal allegedly discussed with then-DCS Director Mike Faust, who reportedly was visibly shaken. The Senate Republicans are pushing for more documents, while the Attorney General says there’s no criminal threshold met — but Senate President Petersen suggests a bribery charge may still be viable. Meanwhile, the governor’s team and the company dismiss the claims as politically motivated, arguing the investigation already cleared Hobbs and highlighting the real work being done for vulnerable children.
