## Resource

Two Airmen from Luke Air Force Base, Captain Max Sarver and Senior Airman Wyatt Lupien, turned a deadly golf course emergency into a miracle—saving a veteran’s life with swift, trained action. Spotting an unconscious golfer, they sprang into motion: Lupien took over chest compressions while Sarver managed airway and overall condition. When staff arrived with an AED, they delivered a critical shock before continuing CPR until paramedics took over. Firefighters arrived eight minutes later, transporting the veteran to ICU—where he survived thanks largely to their intervention. Both men, who work in the base’s optometry clinic, credited their military medical training—including recent Basic Life Support and Tactical Combat Casualty Care courses—for their lifesaving response. Sarver praised Lupien’s fearless start, saying their preparation made all the difference in that high-stakes moment.
