## Resource

A homeless man battling prostate cancer was forced to leave his camper trailer for a kite festival — but with no license and fearing loss of his belongings, he told rangers he’d rather die than lose them. He then stabbed himself in the neck; police tased him twice despite attempts to de-escalate. Though he received first aid and was briefly seen by a mental health worker, he’s since been discharged without housing, as Queensland’s social housing waitlist remains overwhelming. Advocates are demanding an end to enforcement-driven homelessness policies that push vulnerable people into life-or-death crises.
