## Resource

Australia ramps up pressure on Israel over West Bank settlements as Foreign Minister Penny Wong unveils new targeted sanctions, joining the UK’s escalating diplomatic and economic measures. The UK has banned trade with settlements and imposed export restrictions, while its foreign secretary calls settler violence “ethnic cleansing” and occupation “unlawful.” Australia, not adopting a full trade ban, still targets Israeli officials and funds linked to violence, warning that such actions erode prospects for a two-state solution. Tensions mount as domestic debate intensifies — some MPs demand tougher action, while Jewish community groups warn of damaging bilateral ties.
