## Resource

Activists staged a bold “mass trespass” at the Winstanley Hall estate in Ashton-in-Makerfield, targeting Prime Minister Andy Burnham’s constituency to demand a “right to roam” law—mirroring Scotland’s model—granting public access to privately owned green spaces. They breached fences to protest the estate’s planned redevelopment by Kingswood Homes, which aims to build homes to fund restoration while offering limited access. Protesters argue true public access should be the default, not a perk tied to development, emphasizing nature’s role in mental well-being and community connection amid rising housing pressures.
