## Resource

Plans to build 125 homes on historic peatland near Lindow Man’s discovery site have been approved by Cheshire councillors — a decision met with heavy hearts and fierce local opposition. Faced with national housing mandates and looming financial penalties, officials say they felt trapped, while environmentalists and residents warn of irreversible ecological damage and worsened sewage pollution. Despite hundreds of objections and public outcry, seven councillors voted yes — highlighting the growing conflict between development demands and conservation values.
