## Resource

Joe Marchant, fresh off a three-year rugby odyssey in France with Stade Francais, is back in England chasing his England dream — but not without a linguistic twist. He’s swapped French rugby lingo for English, a small but telling sign of how deeply he absorbed French culture. Once a World Cup stalwart at outside centre, he dove straight into club life in Paris after the tournament, leaving teammates behind as he embraced a new reality. That stint didn’t just teach him a language — it forged a tougher, more assertive player, battle-tested by Top 14’s brutal physicality. Now, with Sale aiming for an attacking Premiership season and Marchant hungry to prove himself, he’s focused on clawing his way back into Steve Borthwick’s England squad. His first game? September 26th against Bristol — and soon after, a trip near Newcastle to cheer from the stands with his father-in-law, Alan Shearer.
