## Resource

Labour narrowly held onto the Burnage council seat in south Manchester, with Carl Austin-Behan winning by 28 votes over the Green Party candidate, marking a comeback after Labour lost the seat in May. Austin-Behan, who previously represented the ward, vows to revive the 169 bus route, tackle speeding and fly-tipping, and boost youth services. He credits a renewed public confidence in Labour and a possible “Burnham bounce” for his victory, while the former councillor praised him as the ideal successor. The Workers Party came third with 466 votes, followed by Reform UK with 315, as turnout hit 23.55%. Labour now retains control of Manchester City Council with 64 seats, while Greens hold 21, Reform UK has 7, and Liberal Democrats have 4.
