## Resource

This consideration reflects on the biblical account of the martyrdom of St. John the Baptist, using the historical narrative to explore modern moral failures. It suggests that King Herod and Herodias represent the human tendency to silence voices that challenge our sinful habits or selfish desires. By analyzing Herod’s internal conflict and ultimate surrender to social pressure and pride, the narrative argues that true freedom is the power to choose the good rather than simply indulging one’s impulses. The discussion emphasizes that feelings of guilt and irritation are often internal signals of a moral law that people unsuccessfully try to suppress. Ultimately, I encourage listeners to view personal corrections and life’s annoyances as opportunities for spiritual growth rather than reasons for resentment.
