## Resource

This commentary explores a powerful reflection on St. Luke’s Gospel and the challenging Christian call to love one’s enemies. It reminds us that truly absorbing this message takes a humble heart—one that recognizes we can't fulfill such radical love on our own strength, but need divine grace to bridge the gap.Through examples like the martyrdom of St. Thomas More and Christ’s forgiveness on the cross, the reflection illustrates what it means to choose God’s mercy over our natural self-defensive instincts. True virtue isn't about transactional kindness or expecting something in return; it’s about reflecting the generous, unconditional character of the Most High. Ultimately, it offers a sobering reminder: the way we judge and treat others shapes how we ourselves will be met by God. It stands as an invitation to lay down our pride, practice deeper spiritual discipline, and live out a faith rooted in active grace.
