## Resource

Trump shocks whiskey lovers by dropping 10% tariffs on Irish whiskey during a high-profile visit to his Doonbeg golf course, echoing his earlier move for Scotch after the UK royal visit — a major win for Irish distillers after 18 months of uncertainty. But the goodwill gesture comes amid controversy: his remarks on Irish unification sparked protests nearby, while inside his club, he was cheered as the first U.S. president to attend the Irish Open. With trade reps still finalizing details and Ireland’s deputy PM calling it “economic significance,” Trump frames it as proof of deep U.S.-Ireland ties — even as his family’s investment in the resort adds a personal touch to the diplomatic moment.
