## Resource

Gulf diplomats and Iranian officials are convening Monday to revive talks on reopening the Strait of Hormuz — without U.S. participation — as regional players push for a sustainable solution amid ongoing tanker threats and U.S. military escorts. While Tehran’s proposal to levy tolls faces resistance, there’s growing openness to voluntary contributions for safety and environmental measures. The Trump administration privately prioritizes nuclear diplomacy over Strait access, yet acknowledges the need for a regional framework — even as it insists Iran cannot control the waterway. With commercial ships still under attack and U.S. naval resources stretched thin, this meeting signals a critical shift: regional actors are determined to chart their own path forward.
