## Resource

The Justice Department just made history with the first-ever deportation under the rarely-used Alien Terrorist Removal Court, sending an Afghan woman back home after she admitted to being an “alien terrorist” and waived her legal rights. Accused of aiding her son and son-in-law in a thwarted terror plot, she’s part of a family already entangled in terrorism charges — her son serving 15 years, her son-in-law awaiting sentencing. Despite her lawyers arguing the court violates due process, the move signals a bold new era for national security enforcement, with top officials calling it a victory for the rule of law — and a tool the government had long avoided using for fear of legal backlash.
