## Resource

Beloit just ended fire and EMS service deals with neighboring towns — a move sparked by years of unfair billing where Beloit taxpayers secretly footed the bill for services other communities used at rock-bottom rates. As Beloit merges its own departments to boost local response, it’s now refusing to subsidize outsiders, since sending crews out-of-town delays help for their own residents and doesn’t cover rising costs for stations, gear, and staffing. They’re not closing the door forever — just demanding future deals be financially fair and stop shifting burdens onto Beloit’s taxpayers.
