## Resource

American Girl just unveiled their 2027 Girl of the Year, Daisy Davenport — a Madison, Wisconsin native who’s all about soccer, guitars, bikes, and the great outdoors. Her debut marks the first time the brand has spotlighted a character from Wisconsin, sparking excitement in local women’s soccer circles like Rally Madison FC, which sees her as a powerful role model for young girls chasing athletic dreams. With their youth academy swelling from five to nine teams and over 180 girls now involved, Madison’s growing soccer scene is thriving — and Daisy’s doll form is helping amplify that message. Plus, it’s a nostalgic nod to American Girl’s own roots: founded in 1986 right here in Madison, the company once operated out of local offices and even tapped UW-Madison and the Wisconsin Historical Society for inspiration. Though HQ’s now in California, Daisy brings homegrown pride back to the Badger State — celebrating local talent, sports, and the unstoppable spirit of young female athletes.
