## Resource

Luke Thomas: World Cup border chaos, ICE detention stories, and UFC’s political entanglement are becoming part of a much larger crisis for America’s image abroad.Luke breaks down how refused entries, deportations, and the treatment of international visitors could shape the way the world sees the United States during the World Cup. The concern is not just one tournament or one ugly headline. It is the cumulative effect of stories spreading overseas, from travelers held over minor issues to fans and officials who may return home with firsthand accounts of a hostile border experience. The conversation then turns to the collapse of U.S. soft power and the growing use of sports as political branding. Luke connects the World Cup, Trump-era immigration policy, UFC’s relationship with the federal government, and the broader sportswashing of American politics into one disturbing pattern.Listen to the full conversation over on Luke’s Substack: https://lthomas.substack.com/#lukethomas #worldcup #lukethomasice Subscribe for more political commentary, media criticism, and analysis on the collision between sports, power, and American politics.Chapters00:00 World Cup chaos in USA01:00 ICE Stories Spread Worldwide 02:00 World Cup Fans Return With Horror Stories03:00 America’s Image Collapses Internationally 04:00 UFC And Sportswashing05:00 MMA Becomes Political06:00 UFC And Federal Power
